Landscape Design Advisory Chapters

Preface

These Chapters represent a generic approach to solving problems that recur in many landscapes. Basically, they are a sorted collection of rules of thumb and other gathered guidance in landscape design and making. Their purpose is to help people find good solutions for their own landscape challenges while allowing each built solution to be unique.

The Advisory series can be used by anyone. It is made up of things to keep in mind when they apply in your particular context, so you can make good choices along the way.
The advice can be readily tailored to specific cases, and often saves a lot of time, trouble and money in the place making process.

These Landscape Design Advisories  represent the shared knowledge and experience of a myriad of Respected Mentors, whose carefully gathered recommendations I have tested over my 36 years as a residential Landscape Designer. They have been assembled as a way for you to reuse the best and most applicable parts of this ‘tried and true’ advice.
With your personal goals in mind, keeping trusted approaches and methods at hand for your work should help guide your Landscape Making Journey to successful outcomes. I have tried to put the chapters into a useful sequence, but design
intertwines, weaving back and forth between all of the chapter considerations. Perhaps you will quickly read them in sequence, then refer to them particularly as you arrive at the pertinent parts of your own Journey.
It has taken a long while for me to make the chapters short and yet filled with relevant clues for your work. There are many more chapters in process for my books, and I look forward to providing them to you over time.
